I was going to post that same link, heh.

Are you going this weekend, then?

Hi Jenn,

No, I'm not planning to go. We have some house stuff to do this weekend. It will be my first foray in to electrical wiring! We're hanging some new lighting and possibly painting, so I'll be fairly occupied all weekend with that. Are you going? How's that blue kitchen? :)

Grr, don't you know I have to work and can't make it either?

Good luck with the wiring. It's really not as bad as you think (J showed me how when he was redecorating his house a couple months ago). It's more elbow grease than intelligence. Just make sure you connect the correct wire to the correct connection! ;-)

YES, definitely make sure you connect the right wire to the right connection! Tom just tried to change some switches in our stairwell and hooked one of the wires up as a ground, and there was no ground. Our friend's dad came to look at it and apparently we could have blown up the switch box. Doh! Lesson learned: Always make careful notes of which wire came from where.

The blue kitchen is looking lovely, thanks for asking! We only got one coat of paint up this weekend because it was so cold outside that the walls were really cold (3 outside walls in the kitchen) and the paint was starting go on funny. I can't believe how much better it looks already. We need to start getting information on the cabinets and home improvement loans but if I start to think about how much needs done I start to get a leeeeetle bit anxious. One thing at a time, I guess.

And now I will stop hogging the comments section.

Thanks girls! I am starting out with replacing a small pendant light in our kitchen, but I will also be attempting to replace a ceiling fan with a light kit. That should be the fun one. We have high ceilings, so there's definite potential for disaster there, since I tend to get dizzy on ladders.

Jenn- looking forward to seeing photos of your kitchen progress. If anyone had told me two years ago that I would be so excited about home improvement stuff, I would have thought that they were crazy.

Yes, the home improvement thing can be addictive! Except that by your third trip to Home Depot in a weekend, it's not so much fun then. I will take pictures and post them soon!
