What to pack?
Well, I didn't get any yarn shop recommendations, so I guess I will just have to find my own! A lot of the places that we will be going are small-ish towns, so I am not holding my breath to run across many, but I have already found one in York via Google. Again, I will be very close to Rowan Yarns, but without a car, I don't think I will make it there.
So...what to pack? It has to be small and portable (i.e., socks). I was all set to take my new and lovely Yarntini yarn with me, but I am still unsure of what pattern to use for either skein. Since I may be picking these up and putting them down a lot (or not at all), the pattern has to be super simple - basic socks it is. Fellow knitter Melissa mentioned that Knit One had lots of Koigu in stock, and that sounded like just the ticket.
I went to Knit One, and proceeded to locate the Koigu. Before I could get there, though, I spotted this and it was love at first sight:
That's Colinette Jitterbug in the Toscana colorway. A yarn from the UK - what could be more perfect?! Of course, I could not leave without some Koigu (they had a great selection), just in case the Jitterbug was a pool-y mess on me while on the road (and also because I cannot resist it).
This will be my last post before I go, so I will see you all in two or three weeks. I'll miss the third Wednesday knit night at Barnes and Noble - everyone say hi to 40 guy for me!

Ooh, I was going to email you tomorrow and say I hope you guys have a fantastic trip! We'll miss you next week!
Have a wonderful time -- we'll look forward to hearing all about it when you get back! Since you won't be a knit night next week, I think you should have a pint that night and make a toast to 40 guy. I think he'd apprecieate it.
The jitterbug is beautiful, I can't wait to see how it knits up.
Have a safe trip! Can't wait to see what you come back with!
ooo just found your blog. I'm in the UK (and a knitter) but don't know of any yarn shops...mostly get mine online so sorry i can't help. But I hope you have a great trip!
Did you notice my bad spelling in my other comment? (Don't tell, okay?)
Here's a little something for when you get back: http://paknitwit.blogspot.com/2007/05/shocking.html
Cheers!
Wow.. your floors are GORGEOUS. We uncovered our hardwood floors a few years ago and still haven't had them refinished. It's on the "to do" list, along with about 90 other things! Your Lady Eleanor is really pretty. I just bought some Noro to make myself one. That's a fun pattern to knit. I made one for my mother and I can't wait to start mine!
So, are you home yet or did you decide to run away to England and stay forever?
